Diagnostic Validity of Brown Executive Function Attention Scales in Elementary School Students with Attention Deficit Disorder in Abyek, Qazvin

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the diagnostic validity of the Brown Executive Function Attention Scales in elementary school students with attention deficit disorder in Abyek, Qazvin. Methodology: The present study employed a psychometric research design, which falls within the scope of methodological investigations. The statistical population consisted of all students diagnosed with learning disabilities, totaling 240 individuals. Among them, 120 students with attention deficit disorder were selected through purposive sampling, while 120 normative students were chosen using convenience sampling. The measurement instruments included the second edition of the Brown Executive Function Scale and the fifth edition of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children. To analyze the data and assess diagnostic validity, three methods were utilized: scatter plot analysis (Davis method), confidence interval analysis, and sensitivity coefficient calculation. Findings: The study findings indicated that the Brown Executive Function Scale demonstrates diagnostic validity in identifying elementary school students with attention deficit disorder. Conclusion: Therefore, this tool can effectively contribute to the diagnosis of students with attention deficit disorder.
