The Educational Dimensions of the Extracurricular Activities of Schools based on the Life of Imam Reza (AS)

Abstract

Objective: Considering the importance of extracurricular activities and the need to pay attention to their various dimensions, especially its educational dimension, the present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the educational dimensions of extracurricular activities of schools based on the life of Imam Reza (AS).   Method: The present study in terms of purpose was applied and in terms of its implementation method was descriptive from type of qualitative. The population of this research was expert researchers and universal professors in the field of education and seminary familiar with the research field. The research sample was 17 people who were selected according to the principle of theoretical saturation and based on the purposive and snowball sampling methods. In this study to collect data was used from semi-structured interview method, which its validity and reliability were confirmed, and the data obtained from its implementation were analyzed by thematic analysis method.   Results: In this study it was found that for extracurricular activities of schools based on the life of Imam Reza (AS) were identified 67 basic themes, 41 organizing themes and 5 comprehensive themes. In the current study, five comprehensive themes were included the self-development (with 5 organizing themes and 12 basic themes), decision-making and problem-solving ability (with 4 organizing themes and 7 basic themes), social relationships development (with 9 organizing themes and 18 basic themes), personality development (with 12 organizing themes and 17 basic themes) and interpersonal communication (with 11 organizing themes and 13 basic themes).   Conclusion: According to the results of this research and within the framework of the mentioned themes by using the study of the life of Imam Reza (AS), it is possible to pay attention to the teachings related to personal and social ethics and life skills in the extracurricular activities of schools.
