The Impact of the Human Resources Information System on the Behavioral Outcomes of Education Employees in Tehran: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) on the behavioral outcomes of employees in the Tehran Department of Education using structural equation modeling. Methods and Materials: This was an applied research project with a descriptive-survey design. The statistical population included education employees in Tehran. A total of 232 questionnaires were distributed, and 200 valid responses were analyzed. Data were collected using a standard closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed via partial least squares (PLS) and SmartPLS software. Findings: The results indicated that the HRIS and its three components—human resource planning, performance appraisal information, and succession planning information—had a significant positive impact on employees’ behavioral outcomes. The model's GOF index was 0.628 for the main model and 0.460 for the sub-model, indicating strong model fit. All path coefficients were statistically significant, confirming all research hypotheses. Conclusion: Implementing a robust HRIS can lead to improved behavioral outcomes among employees, enhancing their organizational commitment, job performance, and motivation. Components such as HR planning and succession planning play a vital role in shaping these outcomes.
